The Light of the World
A note to you all: I finally made it back. My schedule has been incredible over the last two months. I appreciate your prayers as I make the effort to return with a bit more consistency.
Meanwhile, Merry Christmas, this is a wonderful time of year.
Meanwhile, Merry Christmas, this is a wonderful time of year.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to
the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in
darkness, but will have the light of life.” (NIV)
I
love this promise of Jesus’ direction in our lives. He tells us we must follow him but he doesn’t
stop there. He further promises that if
we do so “we
will never walk in darkness.”
He could have easily stopped there but he continues to expound on the
benefits of following him by saying that we “will have the light of life.” I have noticed in my search through the
scriptures that nothing is left incomplete.
It all ties together and has been packaged for us to read and feed from. As believers sometimes we find it confusing
when we don’t understand the application.
But we must be patient. God does
deliver on his promises to us. He
reveals Himself through His Word in areas that he wants us to grow. We could become overwhelmed at all he has for
us in His Word but His direction is true and the path before us is lighted with
the glory of Himself. Satan invades our
lives with darkness, but if we allow Christ to be active and move freely about
in our life the darkness will have no place.
I must warn you though. Christ is
the brightest light and He will see and reveal to you what you have hidden away
in your heart that tries to reside in the darkness of your life. Give it to Him and experience His cleansing
power. He always wants what is best for
us. He never wants to harm us but if
there is *unconfessed sin in our lives we
block him from being effective and our ability to serve becomes limited. We cannot serve him on our own. We need his strength to do what is right and
good in his sight.
Key Thought The challenge is before us. We need to follow him and he will light the
way.
Let
Him be the light of your life today.
May God richly
bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way, through His word.
Have a Great
Day!!
In Christ,
