If Anyone Serves Me…...

John 12:26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. (NKJV)

Henry Blackaby once said, “Watch to see where God is working and join Him in His work.”

Busy lives often cause us to become complacent in what God truly wants in our lives. Serving God does not pertain to just Pastors and Teachers of the Word of God.

When we look around, we see God at work in many places, not just inside the church walls. We see Him in the co-worker who shares with others about what God has done in their lives. We see Him in the small group Bible Studies. We see him in many ministries around the world. Some folks go on short-term mission trips to fulfill a specific need in the field of missions. Let’s face it, all we need to do is look around and see where God is working and join Him there. He will guide you in this effort.

Once, several years ago, a church had a fledgling Men’s Ministry. They met in Men’s Small Groups. They prayed frequently and fervently. They shared what God had laid on their hearts. They studied the Word of God. The leader had heard of a need of one of the church members. Their porch at the entrances of their home was in horrible disrepair. Upon visual inspection they found this to be true. So, the call went out. Not really expecting much response, they prayed fervently for the men of the church to get involved. When the weekend came to rebuild the porch entranceways eighteen men showed up and completed the work withing five hours. They brought power saws, hammers, cordless drills, and the like. The Women’s Ministry kicked in and helped with lunch supplies. The need went out and was answered by many people behind the scenes as well as those men on the front line doing the work. There were tremendous fellowship and the time together in service was so fruitful. The men went to where God was working and joined Him there along with all the support efforts with food and various supplies. In the end, this major replacement of two entrance porches of this church member cost nothing. Those men witnessed God stepping up and meeting the needs of this church member.

Key Thought: When was the last time you looked around to see where a need was in serving God? Is God calling you?

Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, show me how to look for where You are working and prepare my heart for what You want me to do and how You want me to get involved. Help me to become more observant in this journey You have me on. I ask this in Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!!!

Have a Blessed and Wonderful Day!

In Christ,
