Stand in Awe of Him!

Psalms 33: 8    Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.   (KJV) Good Day Men, The fear David is talking about is a healthy fear in understanding who God is.   In seeking God in His Word we see the power of the holy and mighty God.   This in itself draws us to reverence in who He is and what He sent His Son for.   It’s true that we don’t deserve what God did for us through the cross.   But the fact alone that He created us and made us for fellowship with Him clearly shows passion for His great creation.   He wants to be in our presence. Key Thought:   Seek to be in His presence through the reading of His mighty Word and the issuing of praises to His name.   God calls us to be with Him.   Prayer and Bible study is where we begin as well as end. May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will, and His way, through His Word. Your servant in Christ, Rev. Te...

Hide Me!

Psalms 17: 8    Keep me as the apple of your eye, hide me in the shadow of your wings   (NIV) Good Day Men, When trouble hits, where do we go?   Sometimes we seek refuge in our homes.   Sometimes we seek refuge in our churches.   But when we are overcome by the world as David was at times, we see David’s answer.   We should do the same.   We run to God and He protects us from the evil that lies in wait for us.   As believers we have God as our refuge in the very present time of trouble.   We can go to Him.   Further more, He expects us to come to Him.   In times of trouble are you in position to resolve every issue yourself?   Of course not.   Now this may be news to some of you, God truly expects us as His children to bring ALL of our issues in life to Him.   Through His Word you can sort out God’s guidance for every situation that arises in your life.   He will guide you to Himself when you seek ...

Whatever You Do….

Good News Brief Weekend Colossians 3: 17    Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to Him through God the Father.   (NASB) Good Day Men, Paul’s command here is quite clear.   I would like to clarify one point however.   Looking at the first part of this verse the word “whatever” means everything .   To reverse the language structure would be to say, do nothing unless it is in the name of Christ.   So everything we do should be passed through the eyes, ears, mind and heart of our Savior.   How can this be done?   By accepting Christ as your personal Savior you have access through the Holy Spirit, which dwells within us as believers.   Our conversation should be such that God is reflected in all we say and do.   This doesn’t mean giving your testimony to everyone on the street.   It just means that we are more considerate of what we say to others and have a more compassio...

Storms of Life

Good News Brief Weekend Proverbs 10: 25    When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.   (NIV) Good Day Men, When the storms of life are over us we are to lean on Christ, the righteous one.   Not only is this necessary, but He expects us to lean on Him during trying times.   Sometimes we forget that when the storms of life begin, our shelter is Him.   He guides us through and sees us into the clear.   God wants us to experience His peace through all situations in life, both good and challenging.   He shows us His great love and grace during these challenging moments in life.   Lean on Him.   He truly is our strong and mighty fortress.   His powerful love and grace will see us through all the situations that will arise today.     Key Thought:   Trust in the Holy One.   He will see us through. The Savior is waiting for us to call upon Him.   He sh...

To Rebuke Satan!

Zechariah 3: 2   The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you Satan!…….” (NIV) Good Day Men, This command is incredibly powerful.   We are often left scrambling as to what we can use to chase Satan from attacking us.   This is it.   My suggestion is to write it down on something that you can get to quick.   Become resourceful.   Satan loves to catch us off guard.   Alone on your computer and the porn advertisements pop up on your screen, use this verse.   Use it over and over again.   Don’t stop using it.   And use that DELETE KEY……QUICKLY!!!   Satan knows how powerful this verse is.   He may even whisper in your ear that you can’t make it 3 minutes without saying this verse, and then you repeat it every 2 minutes until he goes away.   You cannot use this verse too much.   God placed it here to be used, and if you look close enough, you will see, the Lord used it.   Enough said? Key Thought:   Be...

Live by the Spirit!

Romans 8: 13   For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.   (NKJV) Good Day Men, This verse applies to believers as well as non-believers.   If a believer falls away from God and away from His fellowship after many a warning God will release him to his reprobate mind which is to the devil.   This doesn’t mean he becomes unsaved.   However God’s patience is long-suffering.   That patience doesn’t need to be tried to be proven.   Simply if a believer becomes an agent of evil and the devil, God will remove His testimony from this earth.   We need to constantly live by faith in Christ, which is by the Spirit, and we will become more like Him.   The more like Him we become, the farther we are removed from our past.   Even though our past is forgiven and our future as well, we become victims of our own old habits and living a Christ-like life will pl...

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you ALL!!!

I hope everyone has had an incredible Christmas.  I have enjoyed this small break and enjoy getting back up to normal tomorrow morning. Take Care and God Bless you ALL!

Jesus asks….

Luke 18: 41   “ What do you want me to do for you?”   (HCSB) Good Day Men, As the blind man received his sight we see the blessing that he experienced when Christ asked him this question.   How often have you heard Christ ask you the same question?   When we are alone with God the reverence of the moment can give you a sense that Christ is asking you that very same question.   What would you tell Christ in those moments alone with Him?   This same question probably comes to you from Christ countless times a day but it is lost in our daily activities.   We are too busy to stop and for sure too noisy to hear or concentrate on what Christ is saying through the Holy Spirit.   We need to carve out some quiet time in our everyday life even on the job, to be still and allow God to speak to you.   He can calm the troubled waters of any bad day as well as show you ways to praise Him. Key Thought:   His question to you is the same as t...

How Precious….

Good News Brief Weekend Psalm 139: 17   How precious to me are your thoughts O God!   How vast is the sum of them.   (NIV) Good Day Men, We truly want to know God’s thoughts and His desires for us.   As a believer we thrive on the love and care He seeks to provide through the Holy Spirit.   The sum of His thoughts is beyond anything imaginable.   There is no measure to the word vast.   To know that He wants us to know His thoughts represents a great desire of intimacy on God’s part.   Our answer to that should be to become a willing recipient of those thoughts and allow Him to build that Godly relationship within us that we may become a useful tool in His mighty hands.   We can become that willing recipient.   The choice is ours. Key Thought:   Knowing God’s thoughts is reading His Word and expressing that loving desire to know Him more. God loves us so much that he seeks a level of relationship that only He can ...

God Is Gracious To Us

Good News Brief Weekend Psalm 67: 1   May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us.   (NIV) Good Day Men, Here is our greatest hearts desire, wanting God’s blessings in our lives.   When we truly seek His presence in our lives He comes to life through the Holy Spirit who dwells within.   It’s really quite simple.   When we seek Him He shows Himself in wonderful and powerful ways.   He wants our love and He has built that capability into us as His greatest creation to give Him that love.   In response, He showers His great love. Key Thought:   Yes, having God’s face shine upon us is truly a great thing. Asking for God’s blessing is not being selfish.   It’s His blessings that build His character into our lives. May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will, and His way, through His Word. Your servant in Christ, Rev. Ted J. Wilkins Director and Founder of “Good News Brief For Men”...

I waited patiently….

Psalm 40: 1   I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry.   (NASB) Good Day Men, Often times we ask God for His divine guidance and then we wait…and wait…..and wait some more.   Our choices are limited about what we can do while we are waiting.   My first choice would be to read and study God’s Word.   Maybe my next thing to do would be read about other Godly men who have experienced this same waiting game as well.   What did they do?   What advice do they have to offer?   No matter what God calls you to do in the interim, my advice is to do it.   So what is the best thing we can do when we are waiting for God to reveal Himself through something He has called us to do?   Dwell more on Him and show your love and praise to His holy name for He is good and He is God, and He will revel Himself to you. Key Thought:   God’s desire is not to stay hidden but to reveal Himself to you in ways He deems n...

Where Does My Help Come From

Psalm 121: 1-2   I will lift up my eye to the mountains; from whence shall my help come?   My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.   (NASB) Good Day Men, From experience, David knew where to look for God.   As experience teaches us, our help comes from the Lord too.   In prayer we build a relationship with the Holy One.   In meditating we listen in reverence through His Word for what HE has to tell us.   David also qualifies God’s abilities in referring to who made the heavens and the earth.   Yes, David knew the power of his God and he called on Him often as we should do as well. Key Thought:   Praise God for His attention to each intimate detail in our lives. As David does here for us in today’s world, spread the word that our help is from the Lord . May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will, and His way, through His word. Your servant in Christ, Rev. Ted J. Wilkins Director and Founder of ...

No Harm Comes to the Righteous

Proverbs 12: 21   No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.   (NASB) Good Day Men, When we are aligned with God’s purpose for our lives no harm will come to us.   This is so very true, however some situations that do arise we see as trouble.   But when we are in tune with God and we are seeking Him in our hearts all the daylong then we must look beyond certain circumstances, which may appear harmful and troubling to see what God has planned in the outcome.   We need to remain in His will in order to be in place to receive that which He has for us, which is the absolute best that He will provide.   We need to also understand the reference of word wicked.   God is not wicked in any way whatsoever, but there is only one kind of wicked and it has only one source: Satan.   We see in the Old Testament where God’s chosen people were tempted and fell away.   We need to be on guard and open ourselves to God’s guidanc...

Knowing Joy

Proverbs 12: 20   Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace have joy.   (NASB) Good Day Men, The first part of this verse is quite obvious.   The second part of this verse is where we find direction.   The peace, here and now is the greatest representative of Jesus Christ in today’s world.   Our daily walk in Christ generates peace and others see this.   Our contribution in Christ to others should be seen in our daily walk and activities and of course in all we say.   When we open our mouths, our life in Christ should be evident on the first word we utter.   This doesn’t mean pushing our testimony onto someone; this means being used by God in all our conversations.   Putting Him first produce counselors of peace and joy.   We are representatives of Him first, ourselves second. Key Thought:   Let’s look for ways to alter our conversations to better represent Him in ALL we do and say to other...

Pursuing Righteousness

Proverbs 21: 21   He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.   (NIV) Good Day Men, The result of pursuing God is quite evident here.   Righteousness and love in Christ alone is all we, as believers should seek.   The result is life, prosperity and honor, which alone are enough to draw us to Him but let’s look beneath these expected results.   We find Life in Christ; our prosperity in Him can even be found here in the book of Proverbs.   But honor comes when we pursue God with the right motives in place.   As we grow in Him we build a relationship that is solid and intimate and extremely powerful.   God blesses those who truly seek to know Him more.   These are the riches beyond compare.   Financial prosperity is not mentioned here, nor should it become the focus of our attention.   As the old saying goes “you give a man a fish and he’ll eat right now, but if you teach him how to fish he will eat ...

His Mercy

Good News Brief Weekend Luke 1: 50   And His mercy is upon generation after generation toward those who fear Him.   (NASB) Good Day Men, God’s mercy and grace are far reaching.   This particular verse shows that in Christ, God’s mercy has the capability of going from one generation to the next.   Our testimony through our families is farther reaching that we can ever imagine.   The key is the word “fear”.   This word is defined in the latest Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary as follows: To have a reverential awe of God.   Understanding this kind of fear is healthy is the beginning of a great and holy relationship in God.   We aren’t to hear God through His Word and run away.   We are to have reverential awe of God and this is the intimate relationship He longs for us to have with Him.   Imagine your testimony of how faithful you were in Christ traveling generations through time to lead someone to Christ, maybe a great-great gr...

Hearing and Believing

Good News Brief Weekend Acts 13: 7   …….Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence.   This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the Word of God. (NASB) Good Day Men, Sergius Paulus was a member of the proconsul.   He was an intelligent man.   But from what we see here He sought Barnabas and Saul to personally deliver the Word of God to Him.   There was a drawing and a compelling nature about this call.   It had purpose, and clarity was needed.   We see the result later in verse 12 that after hearing Barnabas and Saul he believed.   God prepares hearts and sends out the drawing from the Holy Spirit to do His will.   The result…..A man got saved.   Not just any man but an intelligent man, full of reasoning.   I have heard remarks in the past from people who said that Jesus was only for the weak and unintelligent.   We know as believers that that remark is dead wrong.   God provides the way and the Holy Spi...

It Really Is Possible

Luke 18: 27   But He said, “The things impossible with men are possible with God.” (NASB) Good Day Men, At first glance in the reading of this verse, it sounds somewhat esoteric leaving one to respond with, “that’s nice”.   But with a deeper look we can discover many things.   Things that we are capable of accomplishing on our own are easy in most cases.   But compared to what God can accomplish through us when we sell out to Him, words cannot explain.   Often we are left shrugging our shoulders and no explanation can be found.   Then we look to God, the author and finisher of our faith.   It was Him all the time.   Who puts the impossible in front of you anyway?   He does!   He often wants us to see His great love for us by showing us how He accomplishes the impossible.   His grace is often the answer.   God’s great power is awesome.   It oftentimes boggles the mind.   But in the end, we know it was Him all ...

Observing God’s Word

Luke 11: 28   But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and observe it.” . (NASB) Good Day Men, This verse came on the heels of a woman giving praise to Mary the mother of Jesus for bearing Him as her son.   Jesus diverted what she said and refocused the crowd on what was most important, observing God’s Word.   We need to look for areas in God’s Word that we can apply to our daily lives.   We need to continuously be on the lookout for God to move through His Word and the related circumstances He places before us.   God wants us to grow in Him.   He truly knows that in Him we will find peace and contentment always. Key Thought:   Observation begins in the observation tower.   Are you continually on the lookout for ways God can reveal Himself to you? We need to be continually looking out for God to move so we don’t miss His application to our lives. May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His ...

The Lord Must Build the House (Part 2 of 2)

Psalms 127: 1   Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. (NASB) Good Day Men, God should always be the watchman over our homes.   We can trust Him as the guard who keeps constant vigilance 24 hours a day 7 days a week.    But what does He guard?   The greatest and most valuable instrument that we give Him access to is our hearts and minds.   If we truly belong to Him we can trust Him in all things, our hearts and minds included.   Our life is the city and God is prepared to guard it at all cost.   We need to remember to call upon God when the need arises.   We don’t need to try to tackle spiritual problems or challenges on our own.   He is there for us as He promised He would be. Key Thought:   Peaceful rest comes to those who put their whole trust in Him. Resting in God’s holy promises brings relief to the trouble mind and heart....

The Lord Must Build the House (Part 1 of 2)

Psalms 127: 1   Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. (NASB) Good Day Men, All of our efforts to build our families into morally right adults are useless, unless we build Christ into their personalities, which must begin at birth.   This verse is quite powerful.   Our efforts are in vain if we exclude Christ in anything.   Our God is a jealous God and He wants to be involved in every facet of our lives including the building of our families and the raising of our children.   He knows that without Him our life truly has neither point nor direction.   But with Him ALL things are possible.   Without Him life is empty.   With Him life is full, complete and has purpose. Key Thought:   We must trust God to build Himself into our families, as He deems necessary. Look for areas that will make positive Godly changes in your family and pursue it....

God’s Help For Us

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.   (NASB) Good Day Men! Have you ever felt trapped by a sinful habit that leads you to try to compromise with God?   Compromising with God is pointless.   God’s position on sin is very clear.   God hates sin.   Proverbs 6: 16-19 covers the sins that God hates.   Even though God hates these things, He still loves us and has great passion for us as His children.   He wants us to experience His heart and desire for us to have peace in Him and victory over sin in our lives.   Satan does not represent peace in any way.   I know of men who have even justified their sin by calling it innocent or calling something they said a little white lie.   Let’s face the facts men.  ...

Personal Strength (Part 3 of 3)

Good News Brief Weekend 1 Timothy 1:12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service,   (NASB) Good Day Men! In this letter to Timothy from the apostle Paul, we see Paul encouraging Timothy to get His strength from the Lord.   When we are faithful in Christ, service is not far behind.   Be sure of one thing, that if you sense God’s call to do anything for Him, be it a testimony to a stranger, or long time friend, or even a family member, you CANNOT do this in your own strength.   BUT, you can do it through the strength that God provides through the Holy Spirit that dwells in us as believers. It has been amazing to watch God move in the lives of men I know personally as they grow in faith and learn to rely on the strength of God through the Holy Spirit.   Their growth is personal and very visible to those who too seek the strength and power of our most holy God.   Men like...

Personal Strength (Part 2 of 3)

Good News B rief Weekend 1 Thessalonians 3: 3 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.   (NASB) Good Day Men! We know right off that the Lord is faithful .   He honors our request for strength as only he can provide.   When turmoil comes to our life and everything seems to be in such disarray, our life looks as if it has no order to it.   Satan in most cases is at the root of these problems.   In response to this dilemma I urge you to find a quiet place, have a seat, and grab a bible.   Next pray to God.   He already knows your heart and the problems in life that burden you so.   He simply wants you to see that He cares enough to listen to you verbalize your need to Him.   What is on your heart right now?   Take it to God!!! He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.   A verse in Philippians 4: 13 says it all: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me...

Personal Strength (Part 1 of 3)

Colossians 1: 11-12 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience ; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.   (NASB) Good Day Men! Pastor Dr. Keith Moore (formerly) of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mebane, N.C. once used the following in one of his messages: “When we attempt to handle problems in our own strength, we are consciously pushing God away.   We are saying NO to God.”   This is a true statement to say the least.   The verse for the day clearly points out the advantage of godly strength.   Often we want patience and we want it now, without going through the trials it takes to perfect that which God wants to use in our lives.   Steadfastness and patience is learned from God through the daily tasks He has prepared for us that best suit our spiritual learning skills.   God knows our heart and is more t...

Persistent Prayer

Luke 18: 1 And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not faint.   (KJV) Good Day Men! At times I have experienced unanswered prayer in my Christian walk.   Today’s verse always renewed my desire to keep on praying until something happens.   We are to watch and wait and seek God’s moving in our prayer requests to Him.   In this particular parable we see a woman pleading her case time and time again to an unjust judge that did not fear God nor had respect for man.   The result of the parable was to express how much MORE God wants to hear us and answer our calls out to Him for He is just and merciful and loving and wants to express Himself through His answer to each and everyone of our requests to Him. What a loving and caring God we have. May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way through His word. Have a great day!!! Your servant in Christ, Rev. Ted J. Wilkins Director a...

Thy Good Treasure

Psalms 119: 11 Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee.   (NASB) Good Day Men! I was asked recently “What is the greatest deterrent against sin?”   Along with knowing Christ as our personal Savior, we need to build more of Christ into our lives on a daily basis.   This can be done through Bible Study, devotional reading, prayer, quiet times alone reflecting on the greatness of God, singing Hymns, just to name a few.   God wants a relationship with us as His children.   The choir leader says in this verse, Thy word I have treasured in my heart .   By dwelling on God’s Word and it’s application to our lives, and truly seeking His will, our desire will be to not sin against Him.   Understanding God’s great passion for us along with daily application of His Word to our lives will always draw us closer to Him, which also pushes us further from sin.   Our desire changes as we draw near to our most holy God. ...

Let God Bless Your Home

Proverbs 3: 33 The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the dwelling of the righteous.   (NASB) Good Day Men! As a believer I can look back at my life as an unsaved man and see the positive changes that have taken place in my life since I’ve been saved.   My home radiates Christ.   Godly matters dominate the conversations within my home.   We discuss sermons, prayer requests, spiritual needs around the world and great deliverers of God’s Word.   Things that were important before like ball scores, teams of the American Conference and National Conference along with who’s who and who’s not and who got traded either in sports or in the home no longer carry the importance they once did.   So what do your children hear you discuss in the home?   Do they see righteousness?   Do you represent to them a holy God whom they want in their life? What’s really important?   What radio stations do you listen to when you...

Real Joy!

1 John: 1: 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.   (KJV) Good Day Men! John is writing about the all-consuming joy that he and the other apostles experienced while with Christ.   In 1 John 1: 1-3 John qualifies his experience with the Savior as being very real and worth his time in testimony to others that they too may understand the joy that comes through knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   John didn’t speak just to believers; he spoke to all that would give an ear to the hearing of his experience with Christ.   John, by his writings, displayed great joy through knowing Christ personally.   We are privileged to have his testimony today, to be able to read of the joy that he wanted others to experience. I encourage you to be a vessel that Christ can use to spread His joy to others. Experience His joy today! May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way through His word. Have a great d...
