What Do We Do Now?
John 21:1-3 Afterward Jesus appeared again to His disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So, they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. After three years of teaching from Jesus, we come across the third time Jesus appeared to the Apostles after the resurrection. Without Jesus these men appeared to be at a loss as to what they should do next. God had a plan. In John 21:3 Peter had a backup plan, return to their work in which they were familiar, FISHING! We see where Peter told them, “I’m going out to fish,” and they said, “We’ll go with you.” We do not see where these men consulted God on what they should do next, they just went fishing as they were accustomed to do...
