Moving Through Life (with Purpose)

Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.  (NKJV)

Good Day Men,

Often times we enter each day in the same routine way, not giving much thought as to what lies ahead of us.  As for me, that first cup of coffee is always a welcome sight and it basically signals my day to begin.  As routine as that is, all the way down to setting the timer and preparing the coffee the night before, we seem to be in a somewhat automatic mode to just getting out the door.  On my way to work, everything seems to change.  I have to be alert in traffic, and I need to always be on the lookout for careless and sometimes even sleepy drivers.  I constantly review my mirrors and watch for those around me.  And then, I arrive at work.  Whew! I made through another hour of traffic again unscathed, WHEW!

In our verse for today I have underlined the word guide.  Often times in our rush to get out the door to work so we won’t be late, we seem to forget to include God in our morning.  He promised to guide us but we simply cannot depend on His guidance if we carelessly neglect His word.  In the early part of this verse we see two other key words, instruct and teach.  Here’s where the problems begin.  Satan really wants us to depend on guidance from God, especially if we ignore the major key to the guidance, and we see that to be instruct and teach.  I have been guilty of this in the past, I would ask God to guide me as I leave the house for work and completely overlook these two powerful words instruct and teach.  One morning I arose and got the coffee and settled into my normal routine and realized I had an extra five minutes so I sat down in my favorite chair and noticed my Bible on the table beside me and I opened it to Psalm 32:8.  I acknowledged quickly that I have left God out of my morning routine.  He also directed me to Proverbs 3:5-8.  That day was the beginning of my time alone with God before I started my morning routine.  The result, my days were clearer and more defined by God’s word realizing He really was instructing me and teaching me His great principles for life.

Key Thought: The Word of God, His Bible (to us) is full of inspirational texts that HE wants to reveal to us.  As believers we are not in this walk of life alone.  He will never leave us nor forsake us, but for us to benefit from this close relationship with Him, we need to come to know Him more.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father; Show me how to look to You with greater purpose as You fill my life with Your Word. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

Have a GREAT day!

In Christ,
