The High Cost of Giving in ……..to Temptation (Part 2)

John 10: 10the thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”

Good Day Men!

Today we will continue with “the thief does not come except to steal, and to kill…..”
Satan still hates us as believers.  In some cases we need to fear all Satan is capable of doing to us.  But that should never be allowed to control our thoughts and dictate our direction through life.  Satan is only as powerful as God the Father allows him to become.  Personally I have at times given in to temptation, and the guilt associated with that fall into sin is great to say the least.  At times the fact that I gave in to the temptation hurts far more than the commission of the actual sin itself.  Let’s face facts, God hates sin.  He always has and always will.  And we should hate sin the same way.  A friend of mine David was sharing in our men’s group several years ago and sin was that evening’s topic along with this verse.  David chimed into our conversation with the other men in the group and said, “Guys, we need to hate sin as much as God hates sin.”  And David was absolutely right.

Satan would love to have all believers killed and out of his way.  He wants to run roughshod over this entire world and claim it as his own.  He is the thief that comes to kill.  If he can’t take our life physically, then he will do all he can to discredit our testimony for the cause of Christ and assassinate our character leaving us discouraged and in a spiritual pile along the way.

But in this issue called sin we still have Christ and He loves us unconditionally and completely. So much so that He went to a cruel cross on Calvary to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins so we could be with Him in Heaven forever and ever.  John 3: 16 states this. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (NKJV).  Another verse shows the capacity of the forgiveness of God.  1 John 1: 9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (NKJV).  Satan in all his evil, would never want you to know this.  He wants you to live a discouraged life, and a life without Jesus, which means in the end you will die and go to Hell and be without Jesus for eternity.  Hell is not a party house.  Hell is isolation with a thirst that can never be quenched, so black and dark that you can’t see you hand in front of your face.  Now that’s bad.  I’d rather have Jesus, and you can too.  Just ask Him to forgive you of your sins and accept His sacrifice on the cross for you, and ask Him to come into your heart.  You will be forgiven, and you will go to be with Jesus for eternity, and heaven is a wonderful place.  I pray that I will see you there.

Key Thought: God is our strength and shield.  He will guide us and direct our paths day by day if we just ask Him to do so.  Get into the Bible, the Word of God.  That’s where the strength and courage is seen to take you day by day and hour by hour through each passing day.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, Help me to understand how much you love and care for me. Help us to get in to your Word and find the strength and courage to face each day’s trials and temptation that Satan wants to trip us with.  Help us to stand and not fail you.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!

Have a blessed day!

In Christ,
