Always Be On Guard

Proverbs 4: 23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. (NASB)

Good Day Men!

As a Boy Scout I went on many camping trips.  Occasionally the Scoutmaster would post a night watch for the fire to make sure it didn’t go out overnight.  It required diligence to keep the fire burning low but not let it go out.  We cooked breakfast on that fire the next morning so it was important to keep the blaze hot.  I still have my mess kit from those days, and I can still cook.  It took effort to be a fire watch on a camping trip.  This was mostly the responsibility of the guys with the Second Class rank or higher.  Scouting was fun and I grew up a lot while in the Boy Scouts.  I learned what diligence meant early in life.  We learned how to guard our integrity as our character developed through the years.  Scouting meant a lot to me as a youth.  I realize that more and more as time passes by.  But the verse for the day gives the term “diligence” an even deeper meaning.  Spiritual diligence has great results.  There is an even greater purpose behind it, For from it flow the springs of life.  We are to watch over our hearts with all diligence.  We must protect or hearts from temptation that we might NOT fall and therefore fail the Holy One.

God prepares us for the days that lie ahead.  We are to follow His preparation by studying His Holy
Word.  We must do everything in our power through the risen Christ to grow toward His likeness.  For in His likeness we find strength for today and hope for tomorrow.

Be diligent in seeking Christ.  Open God’s Word today and enjoy the great adventure.

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way through His Word.

Have a great day!!!

Your servant in Christ,
