What Do We Do Now?

John 21:1-3 Afterward Jesus appeared again to His disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So, they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

After three years of teaching from Jesus, we come across the third time Jesus appeared to the Apostles after the resurrection. Without Jesus these men appeared to be at a loss as to what they should do next. God had a plan.

In John 21:3 Peter had a backup plan, return to their work in which they were familiar, FISHING! We see where Peter told them, “I’m going out to fish,” and they said, “We’ll go with you.” We do not see where these men consulted God on what they should do next, they just went fishing as they were accustomed to do.

Jesus had other plans. Fix breakfast and they will come. This method is still working today! John 21:12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.

We often try in our own way to reason what our next step will be when God appears silent. But God is moving, He is never still. We follow Him step by step, reading His Word, spending time in prayer, and waiting for the moments He reveals His next step for us. Jesus welcomed them to breakfast on the shore and there was an eventful reunion.

Key Thought: We need to always be on the lookout for our next step in our life with Christ.

Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, guide my steps into a deeper relationship with You that I may be prepared for Your answers to my specific needs. Help me to be still and know that You are God. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN!!!

Have a Wonderfully Blessed Day!!!

In Christ,
