Slow to Anger (Part 1 of 2)

James 1: 19  …..But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;  (NASB)

This is one key verse in how to conduct ourselves as a good testimony to others.  We need to listen intently and fully understand what is being said and mentally evaluate the desired outcome of the conversation before we give input.  Jesus, as our example in everything never went off half informed.  He knew what and how to deal with the day-to-day challenges.  Being slow to speak means that we are to simply think things through completely, evaluating all the facts before voicing our thoughts.  Take the necessary time to respond in a Christ-like manner so that our testimony will be true and faithful.  Next we are to be slow to anger.  Listen and evaluate your personal response before you speak and do so in kindness but in all things, speak the truth in a Christ-like manner.

Key Thought:  It always pays to be level headed.  It leaves behind a better testimony.

Patience is a virtue.  Always give the other person time to say all they want to say then season your response by mentally thinking “What Would Jesus Do?”

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will, and His way, through His word.

  Promise Keepers 1993-2024-2 The attendance of that conference in Indianapolis Indiana at the Hosier Dome was a little over 70,000. Many conferences over the next several years averaged between 60,000 and 70,000. Several conferences were held throughout the year, mostly from early summer into mid-fall. Proverbs 4: 1   Hear O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, (NASB) As I look at this verse for the day I see the seriousness of our responsibilities as fathers to our children. Just as we are to look to our heavenly Father for His wisdom applied to our lives through His Word, our children look to us so that they too, in life, will  gain understanding .  How prepared are we as dads to reveal to our children the truths of life as revealed in the Bible. The first thing they see is our walk. We can say all we want, but unless our walk reflects what we say, our children will not take what we say seriously. At times they will test us and push us to the limit. We MUST stick to our convictions.
