Be Gracious To Me, Oh God

Psalm 56:1,3 Be gracious to me, O God, When I am afraid, I put my trust in Thee. (RSV)

There have been times in my past when I was dealing with a physical issue that had posed a serious threat to my life. I needed God to lay out His plan before me so I could follow Him. In all the times I asked Him, I never received a clear answer except, follow Me.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (NKJV) This verse had become very strong in those times of great need. In my commute from Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC after that morning of radiation treatment for Cancer, I was looking for peace and surely strength to make it yet another day. I also needed Courage. I knew God had a future and hope in front of me, but I also needed courage and strength. I then recited Joshua 1:9 …...Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. I wept over the concern my Father in Heaven had for me. There were many more scripture verses He delivered to me on those journeys. I will never forget them.

So, where do you stand today? Are you dealing with some personal or physical issues that only God can deliver you from? Sometimes it is not healing, sometimes it is. Regardless, it will be a journey that He wants you to invite Him into, through His grace. We cannot carry ourselves through these hard times. God wants to carry us. He wants us to experience His closeness as He provides His peace in the midst of your storm.

What are you dealing with today? I seriously ask you to consider stopping where you are in your journey and look at these verses. Is God speaking to you? Is He showing you even more verses you can rely on in your time of need? Trust me! He is there. Inside the cover of one of my Bibles I have this statement, “I can trust the one who died for me!”

Key Point: Luke 11:9-10 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Prayer: This was my prayer in 2006 when I was going through my cancer treatment. “Dear Jesus, thank you for being here for me. I knew You’d come.”

Have a Blessed Day!!!
