The "On Ramp" to the Interstate!
Even though I had just acquired one of the greatest instruments in my growth as a Man of God, there were to be many obstacles along my path. The Devotional Bible I was using was the "green one". Some of you men may know exactly the one I am talking about. It is an NIV translation and I was already quite familiar with that, so I knew pretty much what to expect as I read.
I began to settle down for some serious reading and application of these unique devotional readings. Day by day the readings became more challenging. I would read the Verse For The Day, and the Passage For The Day. But that alone didn't seem to extend me very much. It seemed to meet my basic needs and created a hunger for more but the minimal just didn't seem to cut it. I needed more. Beneath each daily devotional I read was more verses. I basically dismissed them as additional readings of the same theme. Well I decided to try one morning when I had a little more time. I was blown away at what God was preparing me for. The verses were deeper and taking me into a series of thoughts extending me into God's Word with greater desire and purpose.
These extra verses created a hunger for God's Word like never before. But through all this God would develop my heart into a useful tool in His mighty hand. As much as this seems to be more than sufficient, My cup was about to overflow.
But where was I to find these Men of God that would help shape my life? The devotionals were providing a variety of writer's approaches, and they were quite good. I was very impressed with all that these Men of God had been through and what message they were trying to get across. Application was there, and I was learning for sure, but where would this lead me in the future? Where would God take me from here?
Picking up the speed.........
We will be taking a short break over the weekend, and return Monday at 5:00 a.m.
