I Will Not Be Shaken (Part 2 of 2)

Psalm 16:8 I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. (NKJV)
In the previous devotional David spoke of God’s direction and guidance (Psalm 16:7). David depended upon that relationship. That relationship was so secure, that David would move forward in all the things that God had called him to do almost as a second nature in his life.
David was reverent. He approached God with great love and faith. David’s faith had been proven time and time again. As a result, we see the praises he offered up through the many Psalms. We see in many Psalms that the agony of the journey was clearly in play, but through God David overcame the sense of agony. David moved forward in the direction God had called him, rejoicing along the way. Sometimes sadness accompanies us through a certain journey, like the loss of a loved one, the loss of employment, sickness, or even a wayward child (adult or otherwise). If we move with today’s verse with God before us, then we are more likely to experience the stability God wants us to experience through these trials and tribulations.
Remember that the Lord is always before me and that I shall not be moved away. This is God’s ultimate and eternal purpose for you. God wants us to trust Him in all things.
We see in the Scriptures where the Kings and Prophets of the Old Testament sometimes veered away from God’s direction and followed self and they FAILED miserably. This often resulted in overburdened taxes, idolatry, and the division of the holy nation of Israel. They had removed God from the leadership of their lives. As a result, many of them had failed. Others succeeded because they put God in His rightful place and refused to be moved. King Asa and his son Jehosaphat were considered godly Kings but toward the end of their reign they slipped and began to depend on themselves and their ability to negotiate terms instead of depending on their most holy God. Many lives, no doubt were filled with “What If.”
Key Point: Place God in the forefront of your life and refuse to be moved from what God says in His Word. Trust me, you will find Him FAITHFUL.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, show me the way of life, fill me with the joy of your presence (Acts 2:28) that I may fulfill Your desires for my life. Provide me with the strength needed for the challenges that lay before me. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!!!

Word of God…...

Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever.” (NIV) What a promise this is! I have listened to people try to justify their actions by using the Word of God and compromising what it says to meet their particular needs. God’s Word needs no help. In this particular verse, we see that there is no room for compromise. We can lean on His Word, stand on His Word, speak, teach, and preach His Word, and the only thing we must do is let Him guide our hearts and minds in the delivery of His Word to others. Our confidence in His Word must be sound and unshakable, but we must also be able to accept humility when we do not understand what it says and seek His guidance to know Him more. In His Word we find clarity through research, life applications everywhere we look, and strength in time of need as well as comfort in time of trouble. Above all, His Word still stands. (NKJV) Henry Blackaby once said, “Watch to see where God is working and join Him in His work.” Busy lives often cause us to become complacent in what God truly wants in our lives. Serving God does not pertain to just Pastors and Teachers of the Word of God. When we look around, we see God at work in many places, not just inside the church walls.
