Spiritual Gifts (Part 5)

1 Corinthians 12: 7  A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.  (NLT)

Good Day Men!

Being the Pastor of a church, you get to see the workings of the body of believers for whom you are responsible.  When a certain task needs to be done those who have the needed spiritual gifts get into their huddle and out comes a plan to initiate, commit, and produce the desired outcome according to God’s holy desire in the lives of those this task will affect.  They communicate with each other and they grow in the spiritual gift God has so blessed them with.  From my vantage point as Pastor I see many different teams working together and comparing notes and experiencing God’s desire for fellowship in their lives.  These people are working as individuals and pulling together as a team including those gifted for that particular need.  To watch them work together through the concern they have for the body of believers is like watching a team preparing for a goal winning play.  It’s interesting though, how is it found out if someone new could possibly assist and become a part of this new way of doing things and determine if God in this area of their lives gifts them?  If they express desire to be a part of this team then others who are also helping will come along side these new arrivals and in time they will discover if they are gifted in this area or not (as God so blesses).  They are never asked to leave but they are reminded that they are to pray, make Godly contributions, and learn all there is about this new endeavor for the church.  It sounds like a large team of people doesn’t it?  It can be, or it can also be a small group of two or three.  Of course as their Pastor I could ruin this if I wanted to and turn them into another committee, which spells, in many cases sure death of the project.  Instead these are our ministry teams.  They have taken possession of the outcome of the project realizing that what God provides through them will directly affect the church as a body of believers in incredible ways.

The journey continues……….

Prayer:  Dear Lord Jesus.  I am eager to do something in your name to help my church and others but I don’t see that you have gifted me in any way.  I know that you are a loving God.  Please show me the direction I need to go that I too may experience your great spiritual gift in my life that I may share you with others.   AMEN!

May God richly bless us as we continue seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

Have a GREAT Day!!!
