Facing Discouragement?

Philippians 1:2 (1-11) Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ., (NKJV)

Paul wrote this letter while imprisoned in Rome. His environment was dark and dismal. Even from there he offered this small struggling congregation ENCOURAGEMENT.
Philippi was a city of idolatry and paganism. This church suffered persecution, internal strife, and discord among the congregants. They lacked leadership.
In spite of these difficulties, Paul wrote this encouraging letter covering the following issues they were facing.
  • God has not given up on you.
  • Don’t give up on yourselves
  • He reminded them that they were part of God’s family.
They were facing discouragement and needed to remember where they had come from.
We need to remember how we came to faith in Him. We need to remember where we began and the place where we found forgiveness. We need to return to the place where we experienced God’s grace. We need to return to Calvary, to that Old Rugged Cross.
As we close our eyes in prayer, imagine gazing into those eyes of the Savior. We need to remember that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is abiding in us.
Why did Paul have confidence in these new believers? He knew where their journey of faith had begun. They were fellow partakers of the same grace that Paul had. He needed to remind them.
Paul encouraged them about where they were going (Verses 8-11). Paul encouraged these young believers to move forward in their faith. He wanted them to grow in love and in spiritual discernment.
Are you discouraged today? Are you facing trials and tribulations that seem unsurmountable? Then turn to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith and let Him draw you close. Remember, He is there for you.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, Pour encouragement into my heart and help me to remember that I am in Your care. Guide me into this time of prayer as I envision Your presence beside me seeing me through this situation that I have found myself. Help me to experience Your grace and mercy in the process of drawing close to You at this time. Undergird me and strengthen my endeavors to do what needs to be done and bring honor and glory to your name in the process. In Jesus’ name I pray! AMEN!!!
Have a BLESSED day!!!
In Christ,
