Our GREATEST Example Of Prayer (Part 1 of 11)

Matthew 6: 5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.  Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.  (KJV)

Good Day Men!

By now we have all heard of the prayer of Jabez…(1 Chronicles 4: 10) but there are many prayers throughout Gods Word.  The prayer known as “The Lord’s Prayer” by far is the most recited prayer of all times.  But the shame is that most people say it without realizing what it means. God’s intention through His son Jesus Christ in this prayer was to provide us as believers with the prayer that God want’s to hear.  In this prelude to “The Lord’s Prayer”, we see that God does not like a showy personality to be flamboyant and so articulate with words that he makes a spectacle of himself and not point to our most holy God. These lengthy prayers can be said easily in our prayer closet (which we will cover in part 2), as our private prayer distracts no one. In the following parts of this devotional we will look at the body of our prayers to God.  The last thing I want to be told by God was that my prayers were so long that they distracted from His message to the waiting hearts of others.  The Lord’s Prayer takes 20-25 seconds to recite and covers a multitude of requests. “The Lord’s Prayer” is our guideline.

We need to be a useful tool in the hands of a mighty God, and not a distraction to the congregation He wants to reach.  We must be careful not to stand in the way of God reaching the unsaved, for it is they who are distracted most by wordy prayers.

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way through His word.

Have a great day!!!
