Prayer With Expectation

Good News Brief Weekend

Psalms 5: 3 In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.   (NIV)

Good Day Men!

This is an appeal to God from David for God to hear David’s prayer.  We see the importance of Morning Prayer.  Twice in this verse Morning Prayer is mentioned.  We wake up in the morning and oftentimes we do so with great dread of what awaits us.  Sometimes it will be painting the house, (trim or otherwise), mowing the yard, cleaning out the garage or fixing a plumbing problem that occurred at 5:15 P.M. Friday afternoon or problems at work that make you too sick to show up.  Take your pick.  It has taken a long time but I have finally adjusted to the morning event of praising God when I wake up.  I never praise Him the same way each morning but my praise to God is real and true.  Sometimes I quietly sing the Doxology.  This is a great song of praise.  My day starts on a positive note.  I shortly follow with my Morning Prayer.  It doesn’t have to be long.  But just make it precise.  As Paul said we need to pray without ceasing.  This is merely an attitude of prayer throughout the day.  If you will, a constant open line to our holy God.

One of the keys to this verse is the fact that David prayed in expectation of not only being heard but also being answered.  God expects us to come to Him in all things; furthermore God expects to answer our requests.  David knew this from experience, for God had answered David’s prayers many times.

Ask God to develop in you a powerful and effective prayer life.  This prayer we can ask with GREAT expectations.

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way through His word.

Have a great day!!!
