Building Our Homes

Good News Brief Weekend

Proverbs 24: 3-4 By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; And by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.  (NASB)

Good Day Men!

When you pass by a house under construction what do you see?  A crew, a foreman, equipment, lumber, bricks, blocks, nails, screws, etc.  All this and more go into the building of a house.  But what does it take to make a house a home?  Any General Contractor will tell you that he works from a set of plans provided by the Architect.  He then builds according to the plans, give or take a little on the needed changes to make the house a real home when it’s completed.

What about your spiritual life?  What about the spiritual well-being of the family that moves in the new home?  Does our construction ever stop?  Certainly not.  If you want a strong, secure family then you must put into the relationship that which is necessary to give you the required outcome.  It doesn’t stop with just going to church once a week.  We as husbands and fathers must model a godly responsible husband and father to our wife and children.  Just as building a home takes quality time and effort so does the building of the godly man.  We can’t just lay around and wait for God to move.  We must move toward Him as well.  Open His Word.  Get involved.  You mean more to your family than I could ever cover in this devotional.  We must make the concentrated effort to draw closer to God each and every day.  Every minute counts.  Even when our children are “Legal Adults” the responsibility doesn’t end there.  It actually grows in depth as you age and they gain more wisdom and knowledge in asking the “right” questions and making the comments life drives through them.  To be honest, it never really ends, and for that I am thankful.  They (the kids including my wife) truly keep me on my toes and God keeps me on my knees.

Allow God to build your house into a godly home.  Spend time alone with God and watch the response of your family.  God will reward your efforts.

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way through His word.

Have a great day!!!
