Ask (Part 1 of 3)

Matthew 7: 7  Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.  (NKJV)

Good Day Men,

Today’s verse gives us a “how to” on how we should make our requests to God.

Ask: As simple and easy as this word sounds, there is a sense of complexity about this word and how it is used in this verse.  God is not a Genie in a lamp.  God has purpose in all for which He makes us responsible in the things that we ask of Him.  He makes us responsible for knowing what to ask for as well as how we come to Him with our concerns.  Our requests should be well thought out, and not a Christmas list of miscellaneous items.

When we ask God for something, we must consider the following:

  1. God’s intended purpose for that particular need He has placed in our lives.
  2. Is our request of a selfish nature?  If so, how should it be addressed before God.
  3. Is our request for the betterment of others?
  4. Is our request for Godly intervention?  Then we must too ask Him for patience and guidance so that His purposed and desired result will be fulfilled.
  5. Is our request for our family members, wife, son, or daughter, or other relative?  Then we need to also ask Him to prepare us for His answer that we too will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and how He attends to our needs.
These are just a few things we need to consider.  I am sure there are many more for each particular situation in which we find ourselves.  The main key here is that we go to God in all things.

Key Thought:  God is willing to listen to our call to Him in everything that is of concern to us.  He wants to be involved and included in every facet of our lives.

Ask, and it will be given to you……  We need to ask with expectation.  God already has your answer ready for your request.

Prayer:  Dear Lord Jesus, Guide me into a better relationship with You that I may seek Your desires for my heart and call upon You, and honor You in the way it would please You most.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

Have a GREAT Day!!!

In Christ,
