Being a Man.... And Being Significant..... (Part 3)

Matthew 7: 7-8 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (NKJV)

We are significant to God by the nature of His creating us for fellowship with Him.  Today’s verse illustrates this.  He wants to lavish us with His presence in powerful ways, but we need to ask, seek, and knock in order to receive all that He desires for us.

Our significance to God should never be seen in the form of pride.  We are significant to God because He chooses to bless those who seek Him, and honor those who lift Him up.  This is His creation in action.  If we look back in the book of Genesis alone we see evidence of men who walked with God.  Genesis 5: 22, 24 (Enoch), Genesis 6: 9 (Noah), Genesis 48: 15 (Abraham & Isaac).  We are significant to God as the recipient of His wonderful blessings on our lives.  We owe God our fellowship but He never obligates us to come to Him.  His love alone draws us.  He created us for fellowship with Him.  Have you ever taken a walk somewhere by yourself and as you walk along recognize God as who He is and how He blesses you in all you do in Him?  Without God we are insignificant.  We are significant to God for He alone gives us purpose in life.  The Hymn “Without Him” clearly reflects this.

I challenge you today to find some time to get alone with God.  Take a walk in your neighborhood, or in a local park.  Be alone with God and sense His presence as you walk with Him today.

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father, help me to make more time for you in my busy schedule today.  Help me to realize that it is my fellowship time with You that prepares me to be the Godly man You intended for me to become.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

May God richly bless us as we continue seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

Many conferences over the next several years averaged between 60,000 and 70,000. Several conferences were held throughout the year, mostly from early summer into mid-fall. Proverbs 4: 1   Hear O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, (NASB) As I look at this verse for the day I see the seriousness of our responsibilities as fathers to our children. Just as we are to look to our heavenly Father for His wisdom applied to our lives through His Word, our children look to us so that they too, in life, will  gain understanding .  How prepared are we as dads to reveal to our children the truths of life as revealed in the Bible. The first thing they see is our walk. We can say all we want, but unless our walk reflects what we say, our children will not take what we say seriously. At times they will test us and push us to the limit. We MUST stick to our convictions.
