Well Grounded....

Colossians 2: 6-7 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.  (NKJV)

What a reminder this is, that we should live a well-grounded life rooted in Christ Jesus our Lord. 

We often times forget all that Jesus did on the cross.  He paid the price not only for our salvation but also for the lives we live after we accept Christ as our Savior.  Let’s face it guys, it’s a privilege living for Him. 

I’m not beating a dead horse here, but have you ever read the Bible through in a year?  I challenged my congregation last year and the year before to do this.  The first year I asked them to not only read the Bible through, but to take notes on areas that they wanted to come back to later and further their study in areas they wanted more understanding on.  Then the second year they would begin their new journey going deeper into God’s Word.  In most cases this would take longer than a year but by this time the routine was established in their desire to dig deeper into God’s Word and not just read the Bible through. 

So walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

No doubt God’s Word is something that we can be more than thankful for. 

Prayer:  Dear Lord Jesus, Show me Your ways. Guide me into a deeper relationship with You as I read Your Word with greater purpose.   In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

May God richly bless us as we continue to seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

Proverbs 4: 1   Hear O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, (NASB) As I look at this verse for the day I see the seriousness of our responsibilities as fathers to our children. Just as we are to look to our heavenly Father for His wisdom applied to our lives through His Word, our children look to us so that they too, in life, will  gain understanding .  How prepared are we as dads to reveal to our children the truths of life as revealed in the Bible. The first thing they see is our walk. We can say all we want, but unless our walk reflects what we say, our children will not take what we say seriously. At times they will test us and push us to the limit. We MUST stick to our convictions.
