Children

Matthew 19: 14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for such is the kingdom of heaven.”  (NKJV)

I remember when I was a child I saw a lot of knees.  I remember hoping to be grown up one day so I could see more than knees.  I would no longer strain my neck looking up and trying to figure out who was who.  My twin brother and I were often ignored and kept under control as to not embarrass our parents.  Heaven forbid I would ever do that.  I remember seeing other children getting picked up by their moms or dads.  But there were two of us, so we didn’t get picked up very much.  But even then I loved Jesus.  I knew who He was and that He loved children.  Jesus loves children.  There’s a wonderful song about that love.  Today’s verse reflects the sentiments of that song.  Men, your children are important to God, and they should be that important to you.  I have seen men who do not know what to do with these little people.  Christ is our example in all things.  We find our answer in Him.  He welcomed the children to come to Him and the apostles rebuked them for it.  He corrected that by putting the children in their place…….In the very presence of Jesus Himself.  Our children are important to Jesus, they should be as important to us.  Are your children adults?  Love them as Jesus would love them.  They are still your children, and they are loved by God.  If you love them, you will pray for them and for yourself to be able to show them the love of the Father.  God expects it.  His grace will guide you.

Prayer:  Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for children.  Help me to never ignore a single child.  May I always have a smile that reflects your love to every child I meet.  May I become the father to my children that You would have me to become.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

May God richly bless us as we continue seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

  Promise Keepers 1993-2024-2 The attendance of that conference in Indianapolis Indiana at the Hosier Dome was a little over 70,000. Many conferences over the next several years averaged between 60,000 and 70,000. Several conferences were held throughout the year, mostly from early summer into mid-fall. Proverbs 4: 1   Hear O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, (NASB) As I look at this verse for the day I see the seriousness of our responsibilities as fathers to our children. Just as we are to look to our heavenly Father for His wisdom applied to our lives through His Word, our children look to us so that they too, in life, will  gain understanding .  How prepared are we as dads to reveal to our children the truths of life as revealed in the Bible. The first thing they see is our walk. We can say all we want, but unless our walk reflects what we say, our children will not take what we say seriously. At times they will test us and push us to the limit. We MUST stick to our convictions.
