The 23rd Psalm (Part 4)

Psalm 23: 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  (NKJV)

When God’s Word becomes personal, it takes on a whole new meaning.  God reveals Himself through His mighty Word showing time and time again that He alone is able.  We only need to continually commit to His calling as He guides us.  If we as believers think we need only little doses of God to guide us through trials and tribulations we are sadly mistaken and misguided by Satan.  Satan doesn’t want us to have victory.  He wants us to become discouraged.  For when we are discouraged, we become a powerful tool in Satan’s hand.  Our discouragement shows on our faces, and all through the other areas of our lives.  Yes it is hard, very hard, to keep a positive outlook in Christ when life-threatening diseases come into your life.  We must remember that God is still in control.  Nothing comes into our lives without first passing from God.  Nothing we do surprises God.  We could never catch Him off-guard.  As hard as it may be to understand, sometimes trials are brought into our lives to guide us into His greater desire for us.

Today’s verse is powerful.  David says that God was with Him through all that he goes through in this life.  David feared no evil.  Why?  Because David’s trust was placed squarely on the heart of God whom he trusted in all things.  God’s rod and staff they brought David comfort.  These are the tools of the Shepherd.  The rod was used to push the threatening consuming animals away from the sheep.  The staff had a crook in it and was used to draw the sheep near and away from danger.  Knowing God as David did, He trusted God fully and completely.  The only way we can experience that same trust and confidence in the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is to spend time alone with Him in His Word, seeking His way for your life, and giving your strength for each passing moment of each passing day.

Your journey, or the journey of your loved one, is of great concern to God.  At times you may think that God doesn’t care, but I assure you, He most certainly does.  He is wiling to show you the way.  Only HE is able to bring you through all that you may ever encounter here on this earth.  Trust Him today.

Prayer:  Dear God, Give me faith in your purposes for me, so when the time comes that I can’t see Your hand……I will trust your heart to see me through.  In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!

May God richly bless us as we continue seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

Have a GREAT Day!!!
