The 23rd Psalm (Part 5b)

Psalm 23: 5 You anoint my head with oil;  (NKJV)

In biblical times when a special guest arrived in your home you anointed his head with oil.  It was a refreshing event in the life of the visitor and made him feel special.

This is the way it is with God when we commune with Him.  We are not merely men or women, we are His GREATEST creation.  God walked with Adam in the cool of the day.  God created us for fellowship with Him, and He will go out of His way for you to experience His presence in wonderful ways.  When Adam and Eve were banned from the garden, I assure you it wasn’t long before Adam understood his great loss, having God walk with him in the cool of the day.

Today, amongst the trials and tribulations that face us on a daily basis, God is there wanting to guide you through, whether it be sadness, a broken heart, or even jubilation at the salvation of a loved one or one for whom you have been praying.  God wants to be a part of those moments in our lives.

We are His special guests, and He anoints our head with oil.

Prayer:  Dear God, help me to have a better understanding of Your desire for me to have that close relationship with you.  My I never do anything to jeopardize our relationship and fellowship.  In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!

May God richly bless us as we continue seek His will, and His way, through His Word.

  Promise Keepers 1993-2024-2 The attendance of that conference in Indianapolis Indiana at the Hosier Dome was a little over 70,000. Many conferences over the next several years averaged between 60,000 and 70,000. Several conferences were held throughout the year, mostly from early summer into mid-fall. Proverbs 4: 1   Hear O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, (NASB) As I look at this verse for the day I see the seriousness of our responsibilities as fathers to our children. Just as we are to look to our heavenly Father for His wisdom applied to our lives through His Word, our children look to us so that they too, in life, will  gain understanding .  How prepared are we as dads to reveal to our children the truths of life as revealed in the Bible. The first thing they see is our walk. We can say all we want, but unless our walk reflects what we say, our children will not take what we say seriously. At times they will test us and push us to the limit. We MUST stick to our convictions.
