God Hears Us When We Call Out To Him
Good Day Men!
Psalms 40:
1-2 1) I WAITED patiently for the Lord; And He
inclined to me, and heard my cry. 2) He brought me up out of the pit of
destruction, out of the miry clay; And He set my feet upon a rock making my
footsteps firm. (NASB)
David tells us in
the first verse that he waited patiently for the Lord. We never know what God has in mind for us as
believers. But we do know that if we are
patient, God will help us just as he helped David. God heard David’s cry to him, and
listened. As a result God delivered
David from peril. Not only did God
deliver David, He established David’s footing as well and made his footsteps
firm.
As a young Boy
Scout, our Scout Troop went on many Saturday day hikes through the woods. Oftentimes we’d have to ford a creek. I remember the first time we did that; all we
had in our ranks was Second Class Scouts.
We were out to pass off a hiking requirement for First Class. Our Scoutmaster took us through a rather wide
stream where we had to cross. He pointed
the way and the five of us started out.
We stepped on stones in the creek that appeared to be quite stable. But as we got further out we discovered they
were slippery and treacherous. Three of
us fell in. and the other two stumbled across.
I noticed our Scoutmaster had stayed on the shore watching us struggle
to get across. When he called out to us,
we watched him provide us a valuable lesson.
He sat down on a log and loosened his boots (which were the same as
ours) and re-tightened the laces. And
then he came across the creek and never got wet. The tightness of his laces in his shoes
provided the stability on slippery crossing stones in the creek. We all then re-tightened our shoes and proceeded on the hike. A very valuable
lesson was learned that day. If we were
to step out and ford a creek, we’d better tighten up our laces before we head
out across the water or we’re likely to get wet.
The lesson here
is that if we plan on doing anything we had better be prepared in God’s word as
David was, before we step out in faith.
David knew he could call out to God and we have many verses in God’s
word to show that David knew and experienced God in great and many ways. It’s better to call out to God before you
risk getting wet crossing the creeks, streams and rivers in this life. It’s easier to keep dry if you take time to
prepare than it is to dry off after you've gotten wet.
God expects
us to be ready when he calls us into active service. Begin the day on your knees to God in prayer.
May God richly
bless us as we continue to seek His will and His way, through His Word…..AMEN!
Have a Great
Day!!
