Great is Your Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-24 22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” (NKJV)

The Prophet Jeremiah, known as “The Weeping Prophet,” had personally witnessed the total destruction of Jerusalem by invasion of the Babylonians resulting in fire burning the walls and the gates of his beautiful city. This total devastation of Jerusalem was the result of the disobedience of God’s Covenant people, the Israelites. They refused to look at themselves for who they were and the sins of idolatry and their rejection of their most Holy God. God had warned them through the Prophets on many occasions. The Prophet Jeremiah was their last chance, and they still refused to repent and return to God. The result was devastation of the Holy City of Jerusalem along with the Temple.
When we willingly turn away from God and go our own way, we are acting much like the Children of Israel in Jeremiah’s time. Sometimes we just want to go our own way and do our own thing. I have witnessed lives changed in a horrible way as the result of turning away from God. Pride and selfish desires often lead the way to self-isolation from God. But God’s mercy never fails and is always there especially when we believe that we have gone too far from God to turn back now. That is a lie straight from Satan who does not want you to turn back. He likes you where you are as you travel further and further away from the fellowship with the Father you once enjoyed.
It is never too late to STOP where you are and pray to God for His mercy, grace and forgiveness. His mercies cannot be consumed. They are NEW every morning. 1 John 1:9 states, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV). This verse alone can put a STOP to where you are (away from God) and return you to the path of RENEWED fellowship. This is what God wants for you. If you find yourself on this path, it is time to return to God and experience His incredible forgiveness and blessings He has for your life.
Key Thought: As we wake up and begin our daily activities, thank God for His mercies which are so vast that they could never be consumed. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your great love shown through Your sacrifice on the Cross. Forgive me of the times I have taken Your work through the Cross for granted. May I truly experience Your closeness in my life in deep and powerful ways. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!!!
Have a Blessed and Wonderful Day!!!
In Christ,
