The Great Commandment
Mark 12:30-31 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (KJV)
We are to love Christ with all that is in us. The scriptures are very clear. The key words are, heart, soul, mind, and strength. In short, we are to totally love God with ALL of our being.
In the second commandment, we are given a great example of the kind of love we are to express. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (KJV) Christ showed us the greatest sacrifice a man can make by giving of himself to the world as His sacrifice for our sins. John 15:13 states Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. In John 15:13 Christ calls us friends. His intentions are clear. We are not slave type servants obeying His every command because we are slaves. Oh NO! But we are His friends, for He laid His life down for us that we may spend eternity with Him.
With these two commandments, we have something to strive for in our lives. Let us seek to have a closer relationship with the father. We have the brick (His Word), we have the mortar (His grace to forgive when we fail Him), and most important we have the foundation (the Cornerstone) which is Jesus Christ Himself. Let’s take the time to experience Him fully by seeking Him where He may be found as He builds us into the child, He wants us to be.
Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, help me to take Your commands seriously and guide me in Your ways. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
Have a Great Day!!.
In Christ,
