Teach Us…...
Psalm 90:12 Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom. (NLT)
Time is a precious resource in our lives today. We need to make sure that we are spending that time in a way that produces the best end results.
I heard the other day about a man who never had enough time. At the end of every day there were still more things on his “to do” list than there was time left in the day to accomplish these tasks. Each day had its own set of interruptions. He very rarely got to his daily quiet time and daily devotionals along with his prayer lists. This left him feeling quite guilty and somewhat unfulfilled in spirit. Then he heard a Pastor read a verse in the book of Psalms. David stated that he rose early in the morning hours to spend time alone with God. So, this man made up his mind to try this and see how it would work. He really was not a morning person, but he would try it anyway. The next day he arose 30 minutes earlier and sat down to a cup of coffee and opened God’s Word. There was his prayer list as well. He studied God’s Word, poured over the prayer list, and realized he needed more time. But He discovered that when he began his day with God, God blessed him in so many ways. He was actually able to see God move in his life through the scriptures he had read that day. As time went on, he got up earlier. Now he arises an hour early and occasionally enjoys the rising of the curtain of night and the breaking of a brand-new day, one of God’s wondrous displays of His greatness.
Key Thought: If God does not seem to fit into your schedule, make your schedule fit Him and you will be truly blessed.
Time and wisdom go hand in hand as we take the time to enjoy and absorb the wisdom, knowledge, and grace of our Holy God.
Prayer: Dear Father in Heaven, Help me to never become complacent when it comes to my time alone with You. Help me to never take You for granted. May my hours throughout each day be focused on Your greater purpose for my life as You reveal your direction through my time alone with You in Your Word each day. In Jesus’ name pray! AMEN!!!
Have a Blessed Day!!!
In Christ,
